American Optimist Passes

Imagine there's no Heaven
It's easy if you try
No hell below us
Above us only sky
Imagine all the people
Living for today

Imagine there's no countries
It isn't hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
And no religion too
Imagine all the people
Living life in peace

You may say that I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will be as one

Imagine no possessions
I wonder if you can
No need for greed or hunger
A brotherhood of man
Imagine all the people
Sharing all the world

You may say that I'm a dreamer
But I'm not the only one
I hope someday you'll join us
And the world will live as one

Comments on Mr. Howard Zinn...

"He's made an amazing contribution to American intellectual and moral culture," Noam Chomsky, the MIT professor, said tonight. "He's changed the conscience of America in a highly constructive way. I really can't think of anyone I can compare him to in this respect."

“Here's to our heroic, learned, brilliant, patient, compassionate, generous, and very funny friend, Howard Zinn, who passed away this afternoon. He leaves a legacy of truth, inspiration and optimism. His kind and wizened voice will always be what I hear when my conscience prompts me to behave like a decent and responsible person. Thanks for everything, Howard.” Barry Crimmins
