"..no matter who wins or loses.."

It’s been 28 years (today) since Howard Cosell announced during the Monday night Patriots vs. Miami game: “This, we have to say it, remember this is just a football game, no matter who wins or loses. An unspeakable tragedy, confirmed to us by ABC News in New York City: John Lennon, outside of his apartment building on the West Side of New York City, the most famous, perhaps, of all The Beatles, shot twice in the back, rushed to the Roosevelt Hospital, dead on arrival.”
To me this put the final nail in the coffin to whatever may have been left of the 60’s and the peace mentality it had spawned.
Only weeks earlier Ronald Reagan had been elected president and in after-thought, John Lennon being gunned down was the prelude of what the next eight years would hold, ugliness and the murder of innocent peace.
